Is Canobie Lake a good place to live?
Most people generally love living on the lake because it is usually quite peaceful and quiet. Depending on where you live on the lake will determine if you hear any noise from Canobie Lake Park. Even those who live quite near often say the noise isn’t that bad.

Can you swim in Canobie Lake?
You are not allowed to swim in Canobie Lake.  Most residents credit this with keeping the lake much quieter and more peaceful, and when asked say they would like to keep it this way.

Is Canobie Lake a reservoir?
Yes, the town of Salem draws water from Canobie Lake for approximately half of the year, alternating with Arlington Pond for the other half of the year..

Which towns border Canobie Lake?
Salem and Windham both border about half of the lake, as the town line goes right down the middle.

Are boats allowed on Canobie Lake?
By all means, Yes!  The most common are pontoon boats but there are also a lot of power boats too. Many people love to kayak and canoe as well.

How much do waterfront homes on Canobie Lake cost?
Waterfront homes on Canobie are pretty on-par with homes on other nearby lakes.  You can find some (in need of work) for as low as $300-400,000, but there have also been homes that sold as high as 3 million dollars.
Is ice fishing allowed on Canobie Lake?
Yes! In fact, some years there are a few people that put out bob houses.

What wildlife can be seen around Canobie Lake?
There's lots of wildlife! It's actually quite common to see a Bald Eagle or two.  There are also loons that live on the lake and there's a loon preservation group that helps them by installing areas they can nest.  You'll also see Blue Herron, Cormorants, ducks and plenty more.

Are there fireworks on Canobie Lake?
Canobie Lake Park installs a dock in the middle of the lake every year and they shoot off a very nice fireworks show every Friday night for the bulk of the summer.  They also usually have an extra show on July 4th.  Waterfront residents watch either from their backyards and docks, or take their boats out to watch the show from the water.

How big is Canobie Lake?
Canobie Lake is approximately 375 acres in size.  It is about 1.5 miles long and averages .4 of a mile wide, although there are spots that are wider than that.
